Problem solving in maths
Problem Solving
At The Wilfred Owen School we recognise the importance of teaching children the seven problem solving skills; trial and improvement, working systematically, pattern spotting, working backwards, reasoning logically, visualising and conjecturing. Therefore we integrate the skills into our maths lessons every week. Our teachers identify a skill to focus on and explore a range of progressive problems during that week.
We dedicated two weeks to problem solving from Early years up to year 6. Here are some photos of the activities we completed and comments from the children.
