Learning mentor
Learning mentors provide support and guidance to children and young people who are experiencing difficulties in learning due to social, emotional or behavioural problems or other issues.
Learning mentors help pupils overcome behavioural, social or emotional problems that are affecting their learning.
Our Learning Mentor is Debbie Smallman.
Debbie works with children in school to deal with issues or worries that are stopping children from being able to access their work in class.
Debbie also organises support from external agencies such as School Nurses, Early Help and Counselling support.
Debbie works very closely with parents in school and is able to offer support with a wide range of issues such as financial hardship, parenting support, behaviour management and signposting to support for Domestic Violence, bereavement and other family issues.
Debbie is trained to run the Solihull Parenting Programme with individuals or groups.
She is also one of our designated members of staff for safeguarding.
