Admissions

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

We are always happy to talk to parents about a place at The Wilfred Owen School.

As our own admission authority, Empower Trust Board of Trustees have agreed the policy below.  This will cover admissions from 2021-2022.

To read our admissions policy, including the criteria used to allocate places at the start of the year or through mid-term transfers, please see below.

The School Admissions Code requires admission authorities to display a copy of the determined arrangements on the school’s website.  In order to be compliant with the Code, it is necessary to display admission arrangements for 2021/22 (for current in-year applications), 2022/2023 (for applications that are being processed for entry in the next academic year), and admission arrangements for 2023/2024, which are currently being determined.

Following determination of arrangements, any objections to admission arrangements for entry in September 2023, must be made to the Schools Adjudicator by 15 May 2022.

Contact details for Office of the Schools Adjudicator are:

If you are considering moving your child to our school part way through the year you will need to complete a Mid-Term Transfer Application.

We insist on the form including the signature of the head teacher of the school your child is currently registered at to show they are aware of your intended move.  We will work closely with the current school to exchange files and information so that we can ensure the best opportunities for you and your family as you settle into our school.

If  your child has an EHCP or statement of need you will need to contact the Local Authority SEN team to inform them of your wish to move your child from one school to another.

The Local Authority handbook and guidance on admissions is  available on the Shropshire web site along with additional information relating to school admissions.

If you have any further questions or require help completing the forms, please contact the school office on 01743282360 and we will do our very best to assist you.
